4 minute looped film shown as part of a group exhibition Textile Stories- Stoffe Erzahlung in Hannover.
The film looks at fantasy lives and family secrets inspired by the story of my maternal grandmother who kept her agoraphobia a secret. On her death I inherited a steamer trunk full of unopened patterns, neatly folded Liberty fabrics, buttons and fastenings still on cards. This collection was amassed over a series of annual trips to London to see her grandchildren. For a day a year she conquered her fear and went to town. Every year she bought the makings of a party dress…one she would neither make nor wear.
