Storm Force

Scarborough Art Gallery 2010: a home grown exhibition mixing contemporary maritime art by Len Tabner, traditional Fishermen’s ganseys from local museum collections and contemporary textile art by Dr Annie Shaw with a spotlight on local history referencing the great storm of 1880 on the East Coast. Members of Scarborough and Whitby RNLI curated a collection of maritime watercolours by HB Carter and a successful funding bid enabled the restoration of the third and largest work in a triptych of paintings of the great storm of 1880 by Robert Earnest Roe that had been lingering for over a century in the attic store.
